We need Volunteers!

 Decatur's  Area Habitat for Humanity invites you, people from all faiths and walks  of life to work together in partnership, building houses with families  in need. 

How can you help?

Building Homes

 

  • ​​No previous  construction experience needed.
  • Habitat welcomes all volunteers regardless of physical ability or expertise.
  • Basic skills are helpful.
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy items.
  • Flexible schedules for all volunteers; you may work a regular schedule or on an occasional basis.
  • Sign-In and Work Attire.
  • All volunteers must report to the Construction  Supervisor.
  • Volunteers should wear sturdy, closed‐toed shoes and neat work clothes.
  • Site  Hosts are the friendly volunteers that greet and register construction  volunteers and take care of various needs at the build site.
  • Food providers are the volunteers that keep everyone going by providing simple, healthy, and delicious meals on work days.

ReStore

 

  • Volunteers  are essential to our ReStore Warehouse as we receive donations of  building materials and other home items, such as light fixtures, carpet,  doors, sinks, toilets, etc. frequently.  The Decatur Area Habitat for  Humanity ReStore welcomes volunteers (individuals and groups) who are  able to help in a variety of roles and for any length of time. We are  looking for volunteers who can lend a hand to assist customers, receive  and organize merchandise and stock shelves.

Experience and Skills-

  • No previous retail or construction experience needed. Basic skills are helpful.
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy items for merchandising work.
  • Sign-In and Work Attire.
  • All volunteers must report to the ReStore Manager.
  • Volunteers should wear sturdy, closed‐toed shoes and neat work clothes.
